On Saturday, October 29, the Jasper High School cheerleading team competed at regional. The girls placed third overall, and will be competing at state Saturday, November 5. The competition will be tough, but the girls are working to persevere and bring home a first place trophy.
Although Seibert, who has been a member of the Jasper High School cheer team for four years, did not compete on Saturday due to an injury she was still there to support her team. “Now that I’m a senior, there is a lot more responsibility to the team. You have to be a leader, you have to keep everyone’s attitudes [up], and you have to set [an] example for practices and games and for competing,” says senior Kylie Seibert about her responsibilities to the team.
Cheerleaders have been known to persevere through routines no matter the obstacle. Girls have gotten sick and broke bones in the middle of routines, and continued with their performance. Although, with obstacles comes triumph, and the Jasper cheer team is a great example of this.
