The Oscars 2013

oscars 2013The Oscars took place last night, (Sunday 25) and was the 85th annual. The Oscars, or The Academy Awards as the event also is called, are a set of awards given annually for excellence of cinematic achievements. The awards were first given in 1929 at a ceremony created for the awards, at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. As the years have passed the awards being given have changed, and awards, or Oscars, are now given in more than a dozen categories, and include films of various types. Yesterday, like all other years, the event’s guests dressed up in beautiful dresses and suits, great performances were performed and great actors were rewarded for their talent. Here are the award winners of yesterday’s event:

  • Foreign Language Film – Amour
  • Makeup and Hairstyling – Les Misérables
  • Music (Original Score) – Life of Pi
  • Music (Original Song) – Skyfall by Adele
