This past Thursday (May 2nd), the Jasper High School Band marched in the Kentucky Derby Parade. The band was sent out to Kentucky at about 8:30-9:00 after loading all the buses with all the instruments. The first stop was at the Louisville Mall, to practice and eat lunch. After all that, we all got into our uniforms and went to the parade. The parade was long and exhausting, especially if you where in the percussion. The band sounded good and it all went well.
This has become an annual trip for the band and is also a good way to introduce incoming freshmen to marching band. Many of the 8th grade students enjoyed their first experience marching with the high school band, and look forward to their next experience this summer with the start of the new marching season.
The marching wildcats will be out to defend their class B state championship in 2013.
