Behind the Scenes

Juniors Andrew Gadlage, Andrew Jespersen, Sydney Gehlhausen, and Emma Mesmer pose next to a cardboard cut out that is for prom. The four make up only a portion of the committee.

On April 8, 2017 Jasper High School will host their prom. This year the theme of prom is The Great Gatsby, and post prom is themed Under the Boardwalk. Tickets have been purchased, and post prom tickets have been handed out.

Every year the junior class helps to fund, and decorate prom by voting on the theme and building the decorations that will be set up for prom. The juniors help pay for prom by either paying a fee, or working concessions at a basketball game. Some juniors who wish to be more involved with the planning join a student committee that helps to make the idea come to life. Ms. Schuetter leads the committee and organizes the meetings. The committee meets sporadically to build props and backdrops, and to paint decorations for the event. The committee is also helped by the PTA, who collect tickets for post prom, and help to run post prom.

“It’s not something that we just throw together, and I believe that all the hard work put into it really makes prom special for everyone,” states junior Kaitlyn Neukam about her view on the committee. The committee continues to meet until the day of prom where all of their hard work will be revealed to the prom attendees.
